Kuro is Giro, or atleast one version of Kuro is Giro. Might be flaws in there, and it's still sad, but less sad than one might initially assume. And Kuro, if we were to assume he is a different person from Giro, had either had been sent from Magi era directly to 999, or by Giro. And THEN he decides to go into the anomaly. Drains the energy from her until she kicks him away to the future, where he resigns to his fate, feeling he did everything he could. The weapon likely was made either by him or by Kuro, but repurposed to store Ceres' energy later by Giro. Giro appears, making them go away, while not necessarily deadly, probably not in a good way. They live in the laboratory for a while, and have Sid. Fina returns to the past, with Kuro joining her some time later. Let's keep it short as an example of what could have happened. While this does not refute some other sad things that most likely did happen, it does make room for a more optimistic timeline. It would explain the card he gives you, (but not how his deck is so good, yeah, yeah) his resignation that things are always the same, and how he is slightly impressed by how you made a village in Windy Valley happen. If he's not Kuro based on the above, then who he could be? Why, he can easily be just Giro, who ended up there after Ceres threw him into the time portal. It is really hard to say.Īnd lastly, the old man in Anomaly, the Wind Valley. Could be something Giro or the Magi instilled in him. Why would he ever do that? Well, there can be a plausible explanation besides "Kuro is evil Giro and went along with his programming to maintain the cycle". And Kuro remembers the weapon and feels a need to use it the moment he sees it.hmm. There's also an evil (G)rand Magus, the stereotypical evil advisor who spurned the war, knows about the Weapon and the Magi ruins. Fina offhandedly mentions that maybe it was made to "protect someone the creator loved", and that there's an entry that states that war is approaching fast and a solution must be found. It would mean that she escapes the lab, only to run into the person who kept her captive immediately afterwards. Her reaction would make even less sense then.Īnd the talk about the weapon. People say that's how Giro becomes Kuro and wakes up in 999, but I feel this does not make sense due to what I wrote in the above. There's also the part where Ceres pushes her captor into a time portal. Where'd they disappear to? Could be killed and did away with quietly, yet unlike Velvet and Menos, who are definitely Ceres' parents, they does not have obvious graves. Whatever the case, they disappear and Giro adopts him, causing Syd to remember him as father. It's pretty obvious that his parents would be Kuro and Fina, which, regardless of what exactly happened, does not paint a pretty picture. As Syd says, his mother dies and his father, who is a mad scientist abandons him. Unfortunately what happens next is not so happy. The message in the lab about there "having a way to return to our time corroborates it - it would be really "their" time if she ended up with Giro, right? So most likely what happened there and more thematically appropriate that is he DID come back to her which is a bit happier ending. Given that, I don't think he would want to worry his friends and do something stupid such as wait forever in the anomaly. Based on this, I feel we can assume that Kuro is not evil. This does not prove Kuro was not Giro, but that they are different? Definitely if you ask me. Which Ceres might as well be, given that initially she says she's going to "destroy time", for which it's unsurprising that everyone would oppose her, not just Kuro. Unless you are an extremely terrible judge of character. I'd imagine it is pretty difficult to think that of someone who, if he really is Giro, has killed your parents and subjected you to torture, proving himself ruthless in every way possible. More importantly is the fact, that no matter what, she believes that Kuro would understand and want to help her. The future Ceres knows who he is even before regaining all of her powers.

But she outright asks you "Are you here to return me to Professor Giro's lab?" Especially considering how she has her powers, even if they were drained.

Regardless of the writing, if it's of any quality, there's no reason she should not have recognized him as Giro when you come to the lab the first time and see her. But things might not be necessarily as dark as you imagine them. Kuro being a completely silent protagonist outside of when he activates the weapon doesn't help either. Personally I feel one should not chalk it to extra foresight when it could be explained by either silly references or laziness. Nah, it's far too ambiguous to fully understand.
