What I would recommend is buying both items directly from Amazon, where you have recourse if there is anything wrong with the product.Īll that being said, the Uhost2 is great. I WOULD NOT recommend doing this as the wireless keyboard mouse I received was defective and the Tablet Republic moderator spent more time lecturing me on the breadth of the Chinese holidays than on taking responsibility for sending me a defective product. I personally bought my first Uhost2 and Mele F10 wireless keyboard mouse as a bundle from the moderator of the Tablet Republic website.

I thought I'd follow up with my experience with the Uhost2 Android mini PC referenced in the previous post here since I posted some comments about it on one of the Travel Products forums.Īfter buying one, and struggling with it initially, I made several breakthroughs with the product in the last week or so, and ended up buying three - one for each of the two HDTV's in my home as well as one for my travel gadget bag. It might not exactly be blind plug and play.

That being said, I don't suppose that a product like this is for the faint of heart. With any luck, I'll be able to get it to run Slingplayer and stream video wirelessly from my network.
#SLINGPLAYER PLUGIN CHROME UPDATE#
From what I understand, I should receive the item in 3 weeks (hopefully, after the Jelly Bean update is released by Smallart). I ended up ordering one today from a link on the Tablet Republic forum. It also apparently has Bluetooth built in and a decent build quality.Ī couple of the more positive reviews from that site.

While the Uhost2 is not perfect (folks have been disappointed that the Wifi connects at only 72Mbps instead of 150Mbps, there have been some challenges with audio skips and delays), folks generally seem to be optimistic about the expected improvements from a Jelly Bean update (Android 4.1) expected to be released later this month, appreciate that the device's processor really runs at 1.4 GHz (versus 1.0 or 1.1 for many of its peers) and like that it dissipates heat effectively. One such comment led me to the Tablet Republic website and a product called the Uhost2, an Android stick produced by a Chinese company called Smallart. I didn't see any follow-up posts on the Android PC on a stick suggestion, so I thought I'd share my very limited experience on the subject thus far.Īfter reading several suspiciously-glowing stories on Engadget about several different Android PC on a stick devices, I did a number of Google searches and read actual user comments that tended to be much more disillusioned.
